Figs Stuffed with Goat Cheese, Za’atar, Olive Oil & Honey

Appetizer · Vegetarian · 15 minutes

There’s something about figs — their shape, the way they look when split open, their taste. Six ingredients, ten minutes, one platter of pure joy. The contrast of flavors is a party in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • Fresh figs (ripe but firm)
  • Good quality soft goat cheese
  • Za’atar
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Flaky sea salt

Method

  1. Trim the top of each fig and cut a cross into it (don’t cut all the way through). Gently open to create a little pocket.
  2. Spoon in a bit of goat cheese.
  3. Sprinkle with za’atar.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil, then honey. Add a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  5. Arrange on an oven-safe platter and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5–10 minutes.
  6. Remove, drizzle with a little extra honey and olive oil, and serve warm.
